Before the first appointment.
None of this is homework. It just means we spend the 90 minutes on fabric instead of questions.
We measure before we order. A chart size is a guess.
Read the collection first if you like. Every line has its fabric and its price basis written out, so you will know what a quote depends on before you arrive.
- Know the date, or the season. A couture gown is made to order, and the fitting calendar is counted back from the wedding. A rough month is enough.
- Know the venue. Church, hall, garden, a boat. Stairs, gravel and aisle length change the train and the hem.
- Bring shoes at the right heel height. Measurements for the hem are taken in them.
- Wear or bring a smooth undergarment. A seamless strapless piece, or a bodysuit. Nothing padded unless you will wear it on the day.
- Save five photographs, not fifty. Show us what you keep coming back to. We will show you what that silhouette does on you.
- Hair up or tied back. Necklines and backs are easier to judge, and nothing catches on the lace.
- Eat first. Ninety minutes in and out of boned bodices is longer than it sounds.
Is a luxury bridal boutique near Detroit worth the drive?
If you want structured silhouettes and heavy natural fabrics, fitted by the people who will alter the gown, yes.
